Alligator Creek Watershed Management Plan
Interflow, in conjunction with Jones Edmunds, prepared the most recent Alligator Creek Watershed Management Plan (ACWP) for the City of Clearwater and the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). The ACWMP was conducted in accordance with SWFWMD Guidelines and Specifications (G&S) and Guidance Documents for Watershed Management Plan development.
Alligator Creek drains more than 5,500 acres of highly urbanized lands within Pinellas County. Through the use of GIS tools including ArcHydro, extensive research of as-built plans, ERP permit files, and field reconnaissance; Interflow developed a comprehensive Geographic Watershed Information System (GWIS) geodatabase containing over 1,000 subbasins (averaging approximately 5.5 acres) and more than 1,400 primary links.
Interflow completed the assembly and calibration of the detailed hydrologic and hydraulic model, and the flood protection level-of-service evaluation portion of the Watershed Management Plan. Interflow and Jones Edmunds jointly evaluated alternative projects for improving the flood protection and water quality functions of the watershed. Interflow and Jones Edmunds collaborated with the City to determine the most beneficial projects to the City of Clearwater residents.
